Flash Offers Dip in March The Flash Report Complete flash data is available at winesandvines.com/flash METRICS 14 WINES&VINES May 2015 T he total number of domestic wine offers by flash sales websites fell 7% in March compared to the total number of offers during the same period last year. The drop in offers stems largely from Invino making just 44 offers in March compared to 132 during March 2014, when it held a special promotion. Five of the nine major flash websites tracked by Wines Vines Analytics offered the same or more wines in March than the same month in 2014. About eight out of every 10 domestic wines offered by flash websites are from California wineries; wineries in Oregon and Washington account for the second-largest share of flash offers. In the past two 12-month periods end- ing in March 2014 and 2015, flash websites offered 500 wines from Oregon wineries and 662 wines from wineries in Washington. Pinot Noir accounted for 75% of all offers for Oregon wines in the two 12-month periods ending in March. No other varietal wine came close to matching the number of offers for Oregon Pinot Noir. While offers for Washing- ton wines were more diverse, Cabernet Sauvi- gnon and red blends accounted for about 50% of all the state's offers. Nearly half of the wines from Washington had a flash price of less than $15, and nearly 70% of the 662 offers in the two 12-month periods had a flash price of less than $20.
