East Bay Vintners name executive director The East Bay Vintners Alli- ance, which includes more than 20 urban wineries, announced Sally Gordon is the group's new execu- tive director. Gordon has more than 35 years of wine industry experience and most recently worked with Dashe Cellars on media relations, market- ing support and wine club management. Wolf named Napa grower of year Michael Wolf, owner of Wolf Vineyard Services, is the 2015 Napa Valley Grower of the Year. Wolf has been developing and managing vineyards for more than 35 years and launched Wolf Vineyard Services in 1997. He now manages more than 800 acres in Napa County. Wolf was a director of the Napa County Farm Bureau from 1986 to 1998 and served as president from 1990 to 1992. He has been on the board of the California Grower Founda- tion since 1987. New winemaker at Chalk Hill Steve Nelson is the new winemaker at Chalk Hill Estate winery and will manage all aspects of winemaking and produc- tion. For the past three years, Nelson has been the assistant winemaker at Lewis Cellars in Napa, Calif. Prior to that, Nelson was the assistant wine- maker at Sebastiani Vine- yards & Winery in Sonoma, Calif. Both Chalk Hill and Sebastiani are owned by Foley Family Wines. Kajani appointed winemaker at Bouchaine Chris Kajani is the new winemaker at Bouchaine Vineyards in the Carne- ros AVA. Kajani replaces Michael Richmond, who is retiring after more than a decade as Bouchaine's winemaker and general manager. Kajani was the winemaker at nearby Saintsbury winery since 2013 and previously worked at Pahlmeyer Win- ery in Napa Valley. NORTHWEST Mercer to join Washington Wine Hall of Fame Don Mercer, the first grower to plant wine grapes in the Horse Heaven Hills AVA, is the 2015 inductee into the Legends of Washington Wine Hall of Fame. Mercer will be inducted into the hall during the Aug. 7 Leg- ends of Washington Wine Gala at the Walter Clore Wine and Culinary Center in Prosser. It was Wash- ington State University researcher Walter Clore who encouraged Mercer in 1972 to plant vines at the site that would later become known as Cham- poux Vineyards. Dugan named GM and VP at DeLille Tom Dugan has been promoted to general manager and executive vice president of DeLille Cellars, which is part of Bacchus Capital Manage- ment's portfolio of winer- ies.
