22 Wines&Vines March 2015 WINE INDUSTRY NEWS CALIFORNIA Williams hired as winemaker at Ziata Ziata Wines in Calistoga, Calif., announced it had hired Jennifer Williams as winemaker. Williams previously held several positions in the Napa Valley including vineyard manager and winemaker at Spotts- woode Winery and winemaker for Zeitgeist Cellars and Arrow & Branch. Arrowood's new winemaker Kristina Werner is the new wine- maker at Arrowood Vineyards & Winery in Glen Ellen, Calif., a Jackson Family Wines property. Werner will oversee all aspects of winemaking and cellar operations, taking over for Heidi von der Me- hden as just the third winemaker at Arrowood since the winery was founded in 1986 by Dick Arrowood. Most recently, Werner made wine at Vérité Winery and Stonestreet wineries in Alexander Valley. Sonoma Vintners to hold barrel auction The Sonoma County Vintners will host an inaugural barrel auction for the trade May 1. The event begins April 30 with a trade and media pre- view event at Williams Selyem Win- ery in the Russian River Valley. The live auction will feature more than 50 barrel lots of between five and 20 cases. Members of the trade may request a ticket to the auction through the vintners' website at sonomawine.com/barrelauction. Cohen promoted at Lede Family Wines Remi Cohen is the vice president and general manager of Yountville, Calif.-based Lede Family Wines, which encompasses the three brands Cliff Lede Vineyards, Po- etry in the Stags Leap District and FEL Wines from Anderson Valley in Mendocino County. Cohen joined Cliff Lede Vineyards in 2012 as di- rector of winemaking and vineyards before being promoted to vice president of operations in 2014. Cohen is currently on the board of the Napa Valley Grapegrowers and the Stags Leap District Winegrow- ers Association. Doyle named winemaker at Spring Mountain Susan Doyle is the new technical director and winemaker at Spring Mountain Vineyard in St. Helena, Calif. Doyle will work with consul- tants Patrick Léon and Bernard Hervet in producing the estate wines. Before joining Spring Moun- tain, Doyle was the director of winemaking for Diageo Chateau & Estate's international and domestic wine brands. Stemmler named winemaker at Bogle Bogle Vineyards in Clarksburg, Calif., announced the promotion of Dana Stemmler to the post of winemaker. Stemmler has worked at Bogle since 2006, first as the enologist and since 2013 as asso- ciate winemaker. Ted Seghesio assumes GM role Ted Seghesio was promoted to the post of winemaker and general manager overseeing daily winery and cellar operations at Seghesio Family Vineyards in Healdsburg, Calif., a Crimson Wine Group prop- erty.
