Gusmer to distribute Renaissance Yeast Gusmer Enterprises Inc. and Renaissance Yeast announced an exclusive distribution agreement for Renaissance's full line of specialty hydrogen sulfide- preventing wine and cider yeasts in the U.S. and Ca- nadian markets. Dr. Linda Bisson at the University of California, Davis, discov- ered these yeasts. During the past five years Renais- sance researchers, working under an exclusive license from the University of Cali- f o r n i a , h a v e d e v e l o p e d classically bred commercial yeast strains that are unable to form H 2 S during fermen- tation. In addition, Renais- sance also offers a certified organic yeast strain to sup- port organic wine growers who are unable to remediate hydrogen sulfide contamina- tion through traditional and approved organic winemak- ing methods. Hartnett joins Cadus Ian Hartnett is the new busi- ness development direc- tor for Tonnellerie Cadus. Hartnett has more than 15 years of cooperage experi- ence, and his sales territory includes California's Napa, Sonoma, Mendocino and Lake counties as well as the Lodi AVA, Sierra Nevada Foothills, eastern United States and Canada. Live Oak Bank launches wine group Live Oak Bank launched a new division to offer fi- nancing for the wine and craft beverage industries. The new division can pro- vide funding for acquisi- tions, successions, partner buy-ins/outs, operating capital, refinances, loan payoffs and real estate t r a n s a c t i o n s . T h e b a n k a l s o p l a n s t o f o c u s o n filling a financing gap for established companies in the craft beverage industry that have strong cash flow but "lack appropriate col- lateral to secure loans with conventional lenders." New rep at Saxco Joseph W. Saltzman is a new sales representative for glass wine bottles and other rigid packaging for Saxco International West Coast Operations. Saltzman will be responsible for glass bottle sales to wineries in Napa, Sonoma and other wine regions in California as well as the development of new business. Prior to join- ing Saxco, Saltzman was an account manager for Cork Supply USA and founder and majority owner of Bar- rel Block. Promotions at Universal Packaging Universal Packaging an- nounced Brian McDonald was promoted to the post of vice president of opera- tions, and Nicole Kaseberg was promoted to director of sales and marketing. The company is located in British Columbia but serves wineries throughout North American from its 40,000-square-foot deco- rating plant and warehouse offering screen printing, frosting, spraying bottles, plain glass, printed car- tons, graphic design ship- ping and Vinoseal glass closures. Hinde joins Exchange Bank E x c h a n g e B a n k a n - nounced that Jason Hinde has joined the commercial banking group as a vice president and relationship manager. Prior to moving to Exchange Bank, Hinde held similar positions in commercial lending at Me- chanics Bank working with wineries, growers, busi- ness owners and real es- tate investors throughout the Bay Area.
