The Oregon winery is lo- cated in Newberg and will produce Pinot Noir and Pinot Gris, while the Washington winery is located in Yakima and is focused on red blends, Bordeaux and Rhone Valley varieties. Wine community mourns winemaker Winemaker Eric Dun- ham, the 44-year-old founder of Dunham Cellars, died Oct. 23. Dunham was a leading figure in the Washing- ton wine community. He founded his winery in Walla Walla, Wash., with his parents in 1995 after working at Hogue Winery and L'Ecole No. 41. Dunham Cellars proved to be a critical and commercial success producing 25,000 cases per year. Fall Creek to open second tasting room Fall Creek Vineyards in Tow, Texas, an- nounced its plans to open a second tasting room in Driftwood, Texas. The second loca- tion, which the winery plans to open in early 2015, will be situated on 17 acres in the Texas Hill Country growing region near Aus- tin, Texas. Magazine honors New York wine country Wine Enthusiast magazine named New York its 2014 Wine Region of the Year, citing the overall quality of wine produced in the state, its fast-growing industry and the state govern- ment's support of the wine business. "The New York wine industry has made a remarkable comeback in the past 30 years in terms of the quality of wines, number of wineries and eco- nomic impact," Wine Enthusiast publisher Adam Strum said in a statement.
