Brewing family buys
Napa Valley winery
Through its Golden Equity Investments (GEI)
group, the Coors brewing family purchased
Goosecross Cellars in
Yountville. Christi Coors Ficeli, GEI manager, will be the winery's new president and CEO. "Our focus
will be to continue the tradition of producing high-quality wines as well as growing
the brand to gain more national recognition," Coors Ficeli said of her plans, which
also include investing in the tasting room,
winemaking facility and the estate "to enhance the experience for our patrons."
Marcus Notaro was named the new winemaker at Stag's
Leap Wine Cellars in Napa Valley. Notaro most
recently served
as winemaker at
Col Solare winery in Benton
City, Wash., in the
Red Mountain

AVA. Both wineries are owned
through a joint venture of Ste. Michelle
Wine Estates and Marchesi Antinori. Ted
Baseler, Ste. Michelle president and CEO,
said Notaro's skill with Cabernet Sauvignon made him the right fit for the position at Stag's Leap. Details: cask23.com.
