Del Arroyo has 30 years of cellar management, wine production and sales experience. Details: myenologist.com. Verallia acquired by Luxembourg firm Ardagh Group, a Luxembourgbased glass company, acquired Verallia North America from the French firm Compagnie de Saint-Gobain in a deal worth $1.7 billion. Verallia North America is based in Muncie, Ind., and is the second largest glassmaker in the United States. Ardagh will increase its glass business by 60% in the deal, which gives the company access to U.S. wine industry customers for the first time. Details: ardaghgroup.com. Promotion at Saxco David Schwandt is the new vice president of the wine division for Saxco International in Oakland, Calif. Schwandt has been with Saxco since 2001. WS Packaging buys Label World WS Packaging Group Inc. acquired Label World, a printer located in Rochester, N.Y. The company's core products are pressure-sensitive labels as well as a range of custom labels, specialty material stocks, varnishes and stamping for premium effects, direct thermal paper and tags and thermal transfer paper and films. Rain Bird acquires ClimateMinder Irrigation product manufacturer Rain Bird acquired ClimateMinder, which produces wireless irrigation system control and monitoring products. Bulut Ersavas, the CEO and founder of Glendale, Calif.-based ClimateMinder is now the business development manager for Rain Bird's agriculture division. Details: rainbird.com. Public relations partnership Carl Giavanti and Alan Goldfarb teamed to form a public relations firm focused on small wineries in Napa, Sonoma and Oregon's Willamette Valley. Goldfarb has a background in wine writing, and Giavanti's experience is in marketing. pH New sales rep at Janson Janson Capsules hired Jennifer Morgan to the sales team in Napa, Calif., and will cover the West Coast.
